The 2022 YYachts Y9 is a 97-foot carbon composite sailing yacht built to the brand's flagship specification. The hull and deck are constructed using carbon fiber sandwich construction with CORECELL M-foam, painted in Desert Umbra. The yacht features a carbon mast and V-boom, both spray-painted black, with modern fractional rigging and a 1.2-meter crane for the mainsail. Propulsion comes from twin Volvo Penta D3-220 diesel engines delivering 162 kW each, driving four-blade folding propellers via shaft transmission, with a cruising speed of 9.72 knots. A retractable 25 kW hydraulic bow thruster and 25 kW Fischer Panda generator provide additional capability.
The interior features smoked oak cabinetry with lamella detailing throughout, designed by Norm Design of Copenhagen. Five cabins accommodate guests and crew, with five heads and showers. The galley includes a CORIAN countertop with integrated sink, gimballed MIELE induction cooker and combi oven, plus a stainless-steel refrigerator with separate freezer drawers. Separate crew quarters feature en-suite bathrooms positioned on both sides of the vessel. All interior fittings and door handles are finished in black satin.
Systems include a centralized air conditioning unit with 100,000 BTU capacity serving ten fan coil units throughout. Fresh water capacity totals 2,000 liters with dual pressure pumps and two 75-liter water heaters. Fuel capacity is 3,000 liters with independent supply lines for each engine and the generator. A comprehensive hydraulic system powers the telescope keel, winches, furlers, mainsail trim, boom vang, and anchor windlass. Electrical systems comprise 32 Victron 12V AGM batteries distributed via C Zone management, paired with two Victron chargers and two 24V/8000W inverters. Power generation comes from solar (30 panels on the Bimini hard top) and an OCEANVOLT hydrogenator.
Navigation and communication equipment includes a full Brüel & Kjær B&G system with three Zeus³ chartplotters, multiple H5000 displays, Hydra performance processor, H5000 autopilot, AIS transceiver, and VHF radio. Deck hardware features hydraulic HARKEN winches including a custom self-tacking jib system. The yacht carries six sails (mainsails, jibs, gennaker, and code zero from North and Zaoli), along with a 4.25-meter tender and 25 HP outboard engine. Natural teak decking with 55 mm planks and a 35 mm toe rail complete the exterior, while a hard top Bimini with integrated solar panels provides shade and weather protection.
