The 2023 Catana 50 Ocean Class is a 50-foot composite catamaran built on four decades of the Catana yard's proven blue-water design philosophy. This model represents a significant evolution in the line, offering increased interior volume, headroom, and payload capacity compared to earlier generations. The hull retains the trademark high bridge-deck clearance, efficient dagger-boards, outsized freeboard, and inverted asymmetric bows that define Catana's offshore performance characteristics. Powered by two 160 hp Yanmar diesel engines, the boat features Max Prop feathering props for improved maneuvering. A 90-square-meter mainsail and overlapping genoa, along with a gennaker and self-tacking Solent track, complete the sail wardragon.
The interior is arranged with three cabins and two heads. The layout prioritizes comfort and utility with improved galley counter space, larger engine room access, and enhanced headroom throughout. Accommodations include full air-conditioning across all three cabins, a household refrigerator-freezer with expanded freezer capacity, and a Spectra water-maker for extended cruising range. A 17.5 kVA generator and a lithium house battery pack support onboard power needs, supplemented by a large solar array and oversized engine alternators.
At hull number 5 of the new model, this boat displays immaculate condition throughout. The engines carry 350 hours of operation. The sails and running rigging are in crisp condition, and the interior finish is spotless. The specification selections emphasize reliability and long-range voyaging capability, with attention to both passive and active power generation systems supporting extended time away from shore facilities.
