The 2023 Excess 14 is a 44-foot fiberglass catamaran designed by VPLP and built by Groupe Beneteau. Twin 114-hp Yanmar diesel engines deliver a cruising speed of 8 knots with a maximum speed of 10 knots. This is the premium three-cabin owner's version, distinguished by performance-oriented features including a low boom, aft helms, direct cable steering, and a forward-set rig that give the boat responsive handling and offshore capability.
The three-cabin layout centers on an owner's suite with ensuite bathroom, complemented by two additional cabins and three heads throughout. The design prioritizes extended cruising comfort with generous storage and a practical interior arrangement suited to long-distance passage-making.
Equipment includes a substantial solar array, lithium power system, watermaker, davits, and an upgraded sail package. A tender is also included. These systems support autonomous operation and self-sufficiency in remote anchorages. The boat completed an Atlantic crossing and has proven itself in blue-water conditions.
