The 2023 Fountaine Pajot Astrea 42 is a fiberglass catamaran designed for serious offshore cruising. At 41 feet in length and nearly 24 feet in beam, the hull form delivers the stability and volume expected of the class. Twin Volvo Penta 50 hp diesel engines with S-drives and folding propellers provide reliable power, supported by a 10.5 kW generator, 875 watts of solar panels, and substantial battery capacity for extended time away from shore.
The layout comprises a full master suite in the starboard hull, two guest double cabins with separate heads in the port hull, and a crew cabin positioned on the bow. The salon centers on a U-shaped galley with gas cooking, dual refrigeration, and a washer/dryer. A Garmin navigation suite with chartplotter, radar, VHF, and AIS covers the electronics; Starlink provides satellite internet. The boat carries a 12V watermaker producing 65 liters per hour, hot and cold pressurized water, and full air conditioning and heating.
The deck arrangement emphasizes comfort and functionality: Flexiteek non-skid surfaces throughout, an electric swim platform and dinghy storage, hard and soft biminis, full cockpit and helm enclosures, and an aft Plancha griddle. A Highfield dinghy with Yamaha 25 hp engine and a six-person life raft complete the vessel's equipment. Safety systems include an EPIRB, Mantus anchor with 70 meters of chain, fire extinguishers, jacklines, and offshore life jackets with harnesses.
The boat was delivered in early 2023 and has cruised extensively across the Atlantic and Caribbean. Engine hours stand at approximately 980–984 on the main engines and 410 on the generator. The hull received fresh antifouling in 2024, and both the bimini covers and Stack Pack mainsail cover were renewed in 2025.
