The 2023 Maverick 18 HPX-V is a technical poling skiff built on a fiberglass hull and powered by a single Yamaha 115 hp engine. The design prioritizes versatility for both fly and cast net fishing, delivering stability and responsiveness under pole while maintaining the range and speed of larger engine packages without drawing excessive draft. The boat handles well whether pushing into strong wind, working chop while hunting migrating fish, or accessing shallow backcountry areas.
The 18-foot beam gives the boat a manageable footprint while preserving workable deck space. Standard features can be expanded with options including a Simrad NSS 12 with transducer, Minn Kota trolling motor with charger, bow casting platform, poling platform, trim tabs, JL Audio, and a Power Pole Blade 8-foot shallow water anchor. A new single-axle Magic Tilt trailer is available for transport.
The engine is a Yamaha 115 SHO with 175 hours of operation. The boat is equipped with a livewell suitable for baitfish storage during extended fishing trips.
