The 2023 Sportsman Open 242 is a 23-foot 8-inch center console designed for fishing and day cruising. It runs a Yamaha 300 Four Stroke outboard with 178 engine hours. The hull is fiberglass with a deep-vee design, 18-degree transom deadrise, and high-density PVC foam coring built using Sportsman's SportTech fabrication process. The boat carries 118 gallons of fuel and has a 25-gallon livewell on the starboard side.
The layout centers on a full-size console with interior storage and a premium dual-chair leaning post with flip-up bolsters. Forward seating wraps the bow with a removable filler board and cushion set. A rear fold-down seat provides additional seating flexibility. The fiberglass hard-top comes standard with LED lighting, and a swim platform with three-step ladder is built into the transom.
Standard electronics include a 12-inch Garmin GPS, VHF radio, and Fusion stereo system. The boat is outfitted with four flush-mount gunwale rod holders, under-gunwale rod racks, hydraulic tilt steering, and stainless steel cup holders. A compass, compass, built-in compass, and 13-gallon water tank complete the standard package. A new 2026 Load Rite trailer and boat cover are included.
