The 2024 Darwin 86 is a steel-hulled motor yacht built by Cantiere Delle Marche with design by Hydro Tec and interiors by Alessandro Massari. Engineered for extended voyages in challenging waters, the yacht features an ice belt at the waterline and reinforced hull and rudders designed for operation in icy conditions. The hull incorporates bulletproof steel plating for added security in remote regions. Twin Scania diesel engines each produce 294 kW, supported by three Northern Light generators totaling 155 kW, sodium-lithium batteries, and a 180 kWh battery pack that enables overnight stays without generator use. The yacht cruises at 10.3 knots and measures 85.63 feet in length with a 24.38-foot beam.
The interior accommodates six cabins and seven heads across three decks. The owner's full-beam stateroom occupies the amidships position on the Lower deck, with a VIP suite forward and two twin cabins each equipped with pullman beds. Crew quarters for four are located forward on the Main deck with dedicated mess facilities and a staircase connecting to the wheelhouse. The spaces blend custom furniture with pieces from Poltrona Frau and Poliform, creating understated elegance throughout.
The Main deck serves as the social hub, featuring lounge and dining areas, a bar, and galley. The Upper deck houses a gym, lounge with stern terrace access, and wheelhouse equipped with Boening integrated monitoring systems. The Sun deck provides furnished relaxation space with sunbeds. A unique fourth pilot station is located in the engine room, alongside a citadel enclosed in armored steel and independent radio station for enhanced operational redundancy.
The yacht is outfitted with bow and stern thrusters, STAR stabilizers, and a SeaTorque shaft system. Navigation and safety equipment includes FARSounder sonar on the bulbous bow, WASSP multibeam sonar, satellite phone, and automated bilge systems with enhanced sensors. Additional features comprise a carbon fiber hard top, RGBW underwater stern lights, open stern swim platform access, and a Cathelco anti-fouling system.
