2024 Cape Scott 137
About This Yacht
The Cape Scott 137 is a 42-metre expedition motor yacht built to ice-class standards in steel, designed for extended voyages in extreme environments. With classical or contemporary styling options, the yacht accommodates a complete expedition party: six guest staterooms and four crew cabins, supported by comprehensive systems including 15,300 US gallons of fuel capacity and a range exceeding 6,200 nautical miles at cruise speed.
Power comes from twin Caterpillar 3508 C engines rated at 1,014 horsepower each, driving the yacht to a top speed of 15 knots. The hull displaces 822,400 pounds at full load and draws 8 feet 4 inches. Electrical systems are configured for either 110/220V AC 60Hz or 230/400V three-phase 50Hz, with twin 60kW generators providing independent power. Fresh water capacity stands at 2,000 US gallons, with separate black and grey holding tanks of 400 US gallons each.
The design embraces a go-anywhere philosophy, with construction to Lloyd's Registry standards. The yard that builds Cape Scott also constructs the Sea Axe line for Damen. Customization is central to the build program: layout, accommodation, and systems can be tailored to specific expedition requirements, whether for Arctic, Antarctic, or other remote-water operations.
