2024 Catalina Expo 14.2

The Catalina Expo 14.2 is a 14-foot fiberglass sailing yacht built on the proven platform of the Catalina 14.2 design, tailored for newcomers to sailing and experienced sailors seeking straightforward, enjoyable small-boat sailing without complexity.

The boat features the SmartRig® system: a tapered carbon fiber mast with a Hoyt boom that is both freestanding and deck-stepped, eliminating the need for wires or chainplates. Two lines manage all sail control—one adjusts sail size while the mainsheet shapes the sail. The carbon fiber mast flexes in gusty conditions rather than causing excessive heel, providing greater stability and reducing capsizing risk compared to traditional aluminum alternatives. The boom sits high and clear of the cockpit, minimizing the chance of impact during tacking. Setup and teardown are quick: pulling the furling line wraps the sail completely around the mast.

Sailing the Expo requires minimal effort. Tacks are straightforward, and the boom's position means you rarely need to duck.
