2024 Custom Z-Toon 5.50 Daysailer
About This Yacht
This 2024 Z-Toon 5.50 is a custom daysailer designed by Guillaume Verdier and Jeremy Palmer, built by Le Grand Largue in Saint-Briac, France. Constructed in plywood epoxy, she weighs 730 kg with 182 kg of ballast and features an integral lifting keel and twin rudders for responsive handling. Her compact proportions—approximately 2.53 metres beam and 0.50 metres draft—make her maneuverable and accessible across a range of sailing conditions.
The rig comprises an 8.80-metre aluminium mast and boom with stainless steel standing rigging and Dyneema running rigging. She carries a complete sail plan with a 10.83 square metre mainsail and 8.07 square metre self-tacking jib with furling system, totalling 18.90 square metres. Deck equipment includes two winches and six jammers for efficient sail management.
Power comes from a Honda outboard engine. Mooring equipment aboard consists of a 7 kilogram anchor and 20 metres of chain. This example has seen very limited use since launch and presents in near-new condition. The boat was customised for its owner with a reduced mast height and sail area. She is transportable and designed as a modern, technically refined platform for small yacht sailing.
