This 2024 M.A.T. Mat 1220 is a 40-foot racing sailboat built from composite with a custom Axxon carbon mast tuned for stiffness and a Yanmar 30 hp diesel engine. The hull is painted rather than gelcoated to reduce weight, and the keel offers two draft options that are easily reversible. The boat features twin rudder capability with a precision E-bar system plus a single rudder configuration, changeable in 2–3 hours.
The deck is equipped with carbon gear throughout, including custom wheels and a spare bowsprit. Navigation and performance data come from a full FARO system with Garmin mast displays and a customized B&G cockpit package with bespoke sensors. The cockpit was redesigned during winter refit with a split pit layout. A water ballast system is fully removable and has been extensively tested.
The sail wardrobe is substantial and current, with a complete North Sails 3Di inventory that includes many new or lightly used sails. The collection covers a full race range: Code 0, staysails, storm sails, and kites. Running rigging has been upgraded with extensive spares throughout. Additional equipment includes a galley, watermaker, and fridge. The hull received a full bottom refinish before the Admiral's Cup. A cradle is included with the boat.
