2025 Custom Cedar strip

This 16-foot canoe is hand-built from clear red western cedar, constructed in Michigan's Upper Peninsula in fall 2025. Each cedar strip is cut from full boards and tongue-and-grooved together, then sealed with a West Marine epoxy system and fiberglass. The result is a lightweight craft weighing approximately 73 pounds, finished with oak gunwhales and woven seats in a snowshoe pattern.

The canoe combines functional design with distinctive aesthetics, offering a balance between paddling performance and visual appeal. Its handcrafted construction and fine materials make it equally suited to fishing, lake floating, or display as a work of original woodcraft.
