2026 Black Pepper tender 17
About This Yacht
The Black Pepper Tender 17 is a 16-foot runabout with clean, purposeful lines inspired by classic 1970s fishing boats. The design emphasizes simplicity and elegance: a modest freeboard, nearly straight deck edge, and uncluttered profile. The hull itself is distinctive, featuring a stepped bottom with pronounced chines and a gull-wing shape with generous radius of curvature—elements that work together to minimize drift and deliver responsive steering across a range of speeds.
Built from fiberglass using a vacuum-infusion process, the hull and deck are constructed separately in closed moulds and then glued and laminated together. The layup technique ensures structural integrity while keeping overall weight light. Assembly proceeds methodically: the full structure is bonded and laminated, then finished with coating and paint before powertrain, electronics, and deck hardware are installed.
The boat welcomes substantial personalization. Teak decking and a wooden steering wheel establish character, while stainless steel handrails double as footrests. A forward sundeck, cockpit bench seat, and aft locker all feature upholstery options, and the generous forward locker has capacity to stow all mattresses aboard. Optional upgrades include a steering console and hardtop, along with choices across color, comfort finishes, and additional fittings.
Performance is efficient and composed. At 7 to 8 knots the hull generates minimal wake, suitable for protected waters. Fuel consumption remains modest with an endurance beyond six hours on the standard tank. At full throttle the boat approaches 30 knots, handling that speed with agility. Light weight and shallow draft make launching and hauling straightforward, while the design resists getting wet even when pressing into a chop.
