The Catalina 426 is a new design succeeding the Catalina 42, built on fiberglass with a 43.5-foot length and 13.67-foot beam. Powered by a single 57-horsepower Yanmar diesel engine, the boat combines contemporary styling with Catalina's core design principles: a functional cockpit, thoughtfully detailed interior, and proven engineering. The deck features twin helms on performance pedestals with pre-stretched cables, six large fixed ports recessed into the hull for light and visibility, and a self-tacking jib with jib traveler. Main and jib sheets lead to the helm for efficient short-handed sailing.
The interior comprises two cabins and two heads. The forward owner's cabin has a large centerline berth with an elevating adjustable mattress. Port and starboard aft cabins follow, with the starboard cabin convertible to storage via a gull wing cockpit hatch. A central mechanical space provides direct access to the engine, generator, water heater, and air conditioners for straightforward maintenance.
The 426 incorporates distinctive structural features: a watertight StrikeZone collision bulkhead forward, a DeepDefense rudder system for failsafe steering, and a T-Beam MastStep structure that combines the advantages of deck-stepped and keel-stepped masts. The SecureSocket mast support and chainplate system ensures proper load distribution and watertight integrity. Knitted fabrics strengthen the laminate without adding weight, and lead keels are designed to absorb impact. All systems meet ABYC and IMCI standards, achieving Category A – Unlimited Offshore rating.
