The 2026 Excess 14 is a 45-foot cruising catamaran built in fiberglass with a 25-foot beam. Twin Yanmar diesel engines rated at 90 horsepower each power the boat, equipped with folding Flexofold propellers and electronic controls at both helm stations. The design centers on dual aft helm positions offering direct sightlines and responsive handling under both sail and engine.
The sailing package includes a square-top laminated mainsail, overlapping genoa in high-performance laminate, adjustable genoa cars, and a Code 0 on a long bowsprit. Electric winches and an electric mainsail traveller round out the deck gear. The cockpit features a large folding wooden table and full enclosure, with a skylounge roof and forward sunbathing area integrated into the open-plan design.
Below deck, three cabins and three heads are finished in grey cedar and white Fenix joinery with upgraded oak flooring and premium upholstery. The saloon and cockpit flow together as a unified living space with substantial natural light. Interior appointments include air conditioning, electric toilets, galley and bathroom countertops in Kerrock Manganite, and a Fusion sound system.
For extended cruising, the boat carries a 7.5kVA generator, lithium battery bank, inverter, and 900W solar array on davits. Navigation electronics include a full Garmin suite with dual 16-inch displays, radar, autopilot, and wind instruments. The boat also features a fresh water dock inlet, seawater pump, and pre-installations for optional upgrades such as a watermaker or washer/dryer.
