The Excess 11 is a 37-foot performance catamaran built by the Beneteau group and designed by VPLP Design for naval architecture, Patrick le Quément for exterior styling, and Nauta Design for interiors. Composite construction using infusion-molded hulls with balsa sandwich cores and injection-molded deck and cabin ensure lightweight durability. The boat carries two 29 hp Yammer diesel engines with sail-drive propulsion, 400 liters of fuel capacity, and 300 liters of fresh water storage. An anodized aluminum mast with two-stage spreaders and balanced sail plan—90 square meters on the wind in standard rig, expandable to 95.5 square meters with the Pulse Line option—delivers responsive sailing characteristics with monocoque-like helm feel.
The layout centers on three cabins and two heads. The owner's suite features a 2.0 by 2.0 meter center berth with private ensuite, desk, and substantial locker space. Two guest cabins forward and aft each have double berths and independent heads with separate showers. Cedar veneer joinery and sand-colored laminate flooring create a contemporary interior brightened by panoramic hull windows and a sliding glass door to the saloon.
The saloon seats six around an L-shaped settee with a chart table nearby. The galley includes a two-burner gas cooktop, enclosed gas oven, stainless steel sink, and 130-liter refrigerator. The 25-liter water heater and full 12-volt circuit with AGM batteries and LED lighting complete the systems. Two helm stations—main and auxiliary—with inset stainless wheel fittings and 700-millimeter diameter barrels occupy the spacious aft cockpit, which also features built-in seating and large storage boxes. A forward trampoline and open cockpit extend deck space for anchoring comfort.
