The Ocean Yachts 70 is a 70-foot sportfishing convertible built in fiberglass with twin diesel inboard engines. Designed in collaboration with Setzer Yacht Architects, the boat combines the accommodations and covered spaces of a convertible with the open-water capability and fishing-focused layout of a modern center console. The hull uses foam-filled construction for added buoyancy, high gunwales, and wide passageways throughout.
The pilothouse is the defining feature—an air-conditioned, climate-controlled space with 360-degree walkaround access. The upper salon contains a large u-shaped sofa, a power-lowering table that converts to an additional berth, two individual chairs, and a pop-up television. Forward is the centrally located helm with a large passenger seating area offering panoramic views. A center staircase leads below deck without requiring exterior access. The lower level includes a private master stateroom with ensuite head and separate shower, two guest staterooms, a shared restroom with enclosed shower, and a full galley with sink, cooktop, refrigerator, wine refrigerator, coffee bar, and microwave. An outdoor galley in the cockpit features a grill, sink, and additional refrigeration. The boat can be configured with a lower-deck galley-up option instead, freeing space for lounge seating or rod storage.
Outdoor areas include a large cockpit with mezzanine seating under shade, a bow dining area, and optional additional seating configurations. The rear window uses switchable glass that can become opaque and function as a display screen for video feeds from the Garmin systems. Rod storage is distributed throughout the pilothouse and a standing-height mechanical room accessible from the cockpit. Standard equipment includes two Seakeeper gyro stabilizers, electric bow thruster, five air conditioners, two Garmin radar and chartplotter systems, Garmin open array radar, Fusion marine stereo, electric anchor windlass, multiple freezers and refrigerators, LED underwater and courtesy lighting, two diesel generators, battery charger, fresh and salt water washdowns, and dual dive doors with heavy-duty dive ladders.
The design prioritizes safety through protected ladder access to the flybridge with spiral lower treads, helm positioning that allows clear sight over the bow even when the sunpad is occupied, and a "Navigator Station" featuring two additional Garmin screens at a separate seating position so crew can monitor radar, FLIR, and other systems without distracting the captain. The boat is highly customizable in layout, available with optional configurations including larger livewells, a flybridge, or a completely open center console arrangement.
