2026 Scout 281 XSS

The 281 XSS is a 28-foot bay and inshore/offshore crossover built with advanced composite construction and designed around fishing performance. Twin Mercury 300 V8 Verado engines with electric steering and joystick control power the boat, supported by a hull finished in Alpine Grey with exposed carbon fiber hardtop legs. The design emphasizes fishability with a large casting foredeck, expansive rear casting deck, dual stern bait and fish boxes, and extensive rod storage.

The boat carries a full suite of electronics including dual Garmin 1243 XSV displays, a Garmin GT12M transducer, and Garmin VHF 315 radio. Navigation and visibility are supported by a black Edson steering wheel and windshield wiper. LED underwater lighting by Lumishore and a Lumitec light bar enhance the boat after dark, while an electrically actuated anchor light comes standard. A deluxe stereo upgrade and rocket launchers for rod storage are included.

Onboard facilities include a porcelain head with overboard discharge and ample convenience features. One fishbox converts to a livewell for live bait storage. Bow and rod cupholders are integrated throughout the boat for practical access during fishing. The 281 XSS combines open-water capability with the shallow-draft maneuverability expected of a modern bay boat.
