The 2026 Sportsman Open 402 is a 40-foot center console engineered around versatility, comfort and modern electronics. Built with advanced infused fiberglass construction featuring a wood-free stringer system and stainless fasteners, the hull carries a 10-year warranty. A single gasoline engine powers the boat, while Seakeeper Ride VACS stabilization enhances ride quality. The 650-gallon fuel capacity with dual fills and fuel level sensor supports extended cruising.

The helm features a command center with dual Garmin GPSMAP 9227 chartplotters, SeaStar Interact DCM digital switching, and a Yamaha Command Link Plus CL5 touchscreen. Four premium captain's chairs with an integrated fiberglass leaning post surround the helm, accompanied by rear-facing mezzanine seating. An Edson 13-inch stainless steel steering wheel with PowerKnob and a Vetus BowPro076 bow thruster provide hands-on control. Navigation and depth finding are handled by an Airmar PM275LHW 1kW CHIRP transducer.

The open cockpit spans a spacious stern with two 40-gallon pressurized aquarium livewells, a fold-down rear seat and a fiberglass cockpit table. Six flush-mount gunwale rod holders and two macerated in-deck fish boxes support fishing, while a Total Access Compartment provides straightforward bilge access. Bow areas feature wrap-around seating with a removable backrest, under-gunwale storage and an electric actuated sundeck table.

Below the console sits a convertible queen-sized berth that transforms into a U-shaped lounge. A full galley includes a Kenyon cooktop, microwave and refrigerator on Corian countertops. The cabin also houses a private enclosed shower, porcelain head with overboard discharge, water heater, 32-inch 4K television and 120-volt air conditioning. A 60-gallon freshwater tank with washdown and 110-volt wall outlets complete the interior.
