The Balance 464 is a 46.6-foot performance catamaran built in composite, representing the next generation of the brand's award-winning lineup. She replaces the 442 with a longer, leaner hull and larger rig, incorporating Balance's proprietary Carbon Core construction—carbon bulkheads, cabin soles, daggerboards, and rudders that reduce weight and increase structural stiffness while maintaining full payload capacity for ocean voyaging. Powered by a single 45 hp Yanmar diesel engine, the 464 cruises at 7.5 knots with a top speed of 8.5 knots.
The deck layout centers on the VersaHelm®, a 90-degree pivoting helm station that delivers four-corner visibility and can be operated by two people. The VersaStern™ folding transom doors provide security offshore and open completely for dock access. Dual furling headsails and electric winches simplify sail handling, while deep daggerboards allow pointing seven degrees higher than most comparable cats without sacrificing speed. Total sail area includes a 79.76 m² mainsail, 37.69 m² self-tacking jib, and provisions for asymmetric spinnaker and reacher. The hull accommodates up to 3 cabin layouts, with the owner version featuring a full galley designed for passage-making, a convertible salon table that converts to a queen berth, generous headroom, a spa-style shower, and abundant real-wood storage.
For extended cruising, the optional VersaDrive diesel-electric hybrid system pairs the Yanmar engine with 2 × 15 kW electric motors and a 36 kW 48V lithium battery bank. Solar capacity reaches up to 3,000 W. Fuel capacity totals 800 liters across dual tanks, with 700 liters of fresh water and 84 liters of black water storage. Draft ranges from 1.14 meters with boards up to 2.27 meters with boards down.
