The Helmsman Trawlers 46 Pilothouse is a 46-foot fiberglass trawler designed for extended-range cruising with a full-displacement hull and wide 16.25-foot beam. Naval architect Ivan Erdevicki designed the boat to achieve CE Class A rating, with a loaded displacement of 55,000 lbs and a single-engine, full-keel design featuring a protective skeg and proportional bow and stern thrusters. Standard power is a Cummins QSC8.3 litre 493 hp diesel engine; John Deere alternatives are also available in various ratings.
The interior offers two cabins and two heads arranged to maximize volume and light. The owners' stateroom includes an ensuite head and separate shower. The salon is open to a U-shaped galley with substantial refrigerator, freezer, and storage capacity. The pilothouse seats six underway and connects openly to the salon; the flybridge is accessed by secure double-sided stairs and includes cushioned exterior seating. The large cockpit is fully covered and fitted with side-entry doors and an entertainment cabinet.
Construction throughout emphasizes quality and durability: thick deck sections, deep gel coat, welded double-rung rails, teak interior trim, and strong hardware. The hull design is stable and efficient, paired with straightforward, reliable systems. A Northern Lights 9 kw generator is included as standard.
