The Krogen 50 Open is a 50-foot fiberglass trawler powered by diesel engines, built on the traditional full displacement hull form that Kadey-Krogen has refined since 1977. This model introduces a departure from the builder's signature raised pilothouse design: a continuous, open main deck that flows from saloon through galley to pilothouse, creating an airy, social layout suited to larger groups. The pilothouse sits elevated by a single step forward of the galley, with a retractable partition wall that can separate the spaces for night running or privacy. Five full walk-through boarding doors provide flexible access regardless of dock configuration.
The main deck saloon features an L-shaped settee to port with storage, additional starboard seating, and four large picture windows. The galley includes a Sub-Zero refrigerator/freezer, Viking range, optional dishwasher, ample pantry and cabinet storage, and pullout trash and recycle bins. Below deck, accommodations are available in two layouts: a midship master with forward VIP cabin, or a master-forward three-cabin arrangement, both customizable. The master suite offers a queen island berth with drawer storage, private head, and his/her closets. A guest head and washer/dryer closet are standard in both configurations.
The engine room below is a walk-up space with six and a half feet of headroom, accommodating single or twin diesel engines. On deck, the design includes a Portuguese bridge, port and starboard wing stations, waist-high bow railings, and an uncluttered foredeck. The flybridge offers an entertainment area and large boat deck, available with an optional hardtop and summer kitchen.
