The Dragonfly 40 is a 40-foot fiberglass trimaran with a 27-foot beam, powered by a single 40 hp Yanmar diesel engine and sail. Built by Dragonfly in Denmark, this design is available in four configurations: the Touring version with self-tacking jib, the Ultimate with a taller rig and larger overlapping furling headsail, the C Ultimate Carbon with carbon-fiber floats, beams, and structural components, and the C Performance with an even taller, higher-output rig and sail plan.
The boat sleeps and accommodates a crew of six to eight persons. The carbon versions feature advanced construction with carbon Pre-Preg components cured in an autoclave, along with under-deck cabin mast support on the forward and aft structural main hull bulkheads. Each configuration balances the foldable, trailerable design philosophy with refinement and structural integrity.
The Dragonfly 40 Ultimate earned 2024 Boat of the Year honors from both Sailing World and Cruising World magazines. The trimaran form delivers stability and performance across the range of available versions, each suited to different priorities in power, rig size, and material specification.
