The Long Island 87 is an aluminum catamaran built by JFA in collaboration with Marc Lombard Yacht Design. The design draws on over three decades of experience creating large cruising multihulls for extended ocean voyaging. Its lightweight structure achieves displacement roughly 30 percent lower than comparable models, resulting in higher cruising speeds and lower fuel consumption without sacrificing range or seaworthiness.
The hull prioritizes durability and reliability through aluminum and composite construction managed to optimize weight distribution. Twin 380 hp Yanmar diesel engines provide dependable power for long-range passages and maneuvering in challenging conditions. The catamaran layout emphasizes safety and comfort for extended bluewater cruising, with engineering focused on efficiency whether sailing or motoring.
Accommodations include six cabins and five heads spread across the hull form, providing sleeping and sanitary arrangements for a cruising party or family. The beam of just under 40 feet provides interior volume and stability while maintaining manageable proportions for a yacht of this size.
