The Nordhavn 96 is a 96-foot fiberglass motor yacht built on an extended version of the proven Nordhavn 86 hull. The 10-foot stretch increases interior volume substantially while maintaining the same fuel capacity and displacement as its predecessor. Twin Caterpillar diesel engines rated at 1,200 hp total power the boat, driving 48-inch propellers through reduction gears. This configuration delivers a transatlantic cruising speed of approximately 10 knots and a range of roughly 4,000 miles at 9 knots, with over 7,000 gallons of fuel capacity aboard.
The accommodations span six cabins and eight heads. The layout features a full-width owner's suite, a captain's cabin, three guest staterooms each with ensuite heads, and a dedicated crew wing with its own cabin, head, and exterior entrance. A laundry and utility room are also included. The main deck saloon and galley extends 43 feet, while the wheelhouse, captain's cabin, and sky lounge area measure nearly 34 feet combined. Interiors are finished with hardwoods, moldings, raised panels, stone floors, and granite countertops, and the layout can be customized to owner preference.
Machinery and systems are comprehensive. The boat includes 20-square-foot stabilizers with central hydraulics, 50 hp bow and stern thrusters, dual Onan generators, a universal AC electrical system for worldwide use, a 2,000-gallon-per-day water maker, chilled water air-conditioning, hydraulic bilge pumping and anchor washdowns, an automatic engine room and lazarette fire suppression system, a 3,500 lb davit, and an on-deck Jacuzzi. The twin engines feature high-pressure common rail electronic injection, wet exhaust, commercial-rated transmissions, integral skegs, two large rudders for directional control, and propellers protected within apertures.
