1917 Custom Bell Laboratories Yawl 59

Built in 1917, this 59-foot wooden yawl was designed by naval architect George Owen of MIT in collaboration with Alexander Graham Bell, with the lines drawn specifically for the wave and wind conditions of the Bras d'Or Lakes. The hull was carefully constructed by Walter Pinaud. The boat is powered by an 85 hp Westerbeke diesel engine.

Between 1993 and 1996, the yacht underwent extensive restoration work. A new deck was installed and over 50 percent of the hull planking was replaced. Systems were updated during this period. Additional sailing and refitting took place in 2017 and 2018.
