This 47-foot cabin cruiser was built in 1930 by American Car & Foundry at their Wilmington, Delaware shipyard, one of the few ACF yachts known to survive. The hull was originally constructed from carefully selected timber—white oak, yellow pine, and Oregon fir planking fastened with bronze—and measures 11 feet 7 inches at the beam. In the late 1990s, after a thorough two-year drying period, the mahogany hull received a C-Flex fiberglass bottom treatment, creating a reinforced structure that preserves the original character while protecting against traditional wooden hull deterioration. The boat is powered by a 120-horsepower Ford Lehman diesel engine with Velvet Drive transmission, capable of 8 knots cruising and 10 knots maximum. A hinged mast allows passage under low bridges for extended inland cruising.
The interior layout comprises two cabins and two heads, with the aft stateroom featuring built-in mahogany cabinetry, a double berth, and substantial hanging lockers. The forward head includes a shower stall and manual toilet. The main saloon amidships combines helm station, convertible sleeping berths concealed in mahogany paneling, and generous natural light from bow and side windows. The helm features a mahogany spoked wheel and binnacle with full engine instrumentation and bow thruster controls readily accessible. A separate galley midship includes marble countertops, stainless steel refrigerator, three-burner electric stove with oven, and microwave.
An 8-kilowatt Northern Lights generator powers the electrical systems and a newer air-conditioning unit. Recent work completed in March 2024 includes bottom inspection and fresh bottom paint. The yacht underwent extensive systematic upgrading beginning in 1993: new fuel tanks, completely rewired electrical system with 30-amp service, new plumbing throughout, fresh water pumps, upgraded fuel filtration, new Lewmar windlass with remote control, and newly serviced opening windows. The boat accommodates comfortable cruising with custom upholstery, foam mattresses, and modern galley appliances throughout a predominantly mahogany interior finished in traditional style.
