1932 De Vries Lentsch Bromo

This 1932 De Vries Lentsch Bromo is a steel-hulled motor yacht built to a design by Ir. J. Loeff, co-founder of the Waterkampioen. Measuring 43.6 feet with a 10-foot beam, the yacht exhibits the slender, elegant lines characteristic of 1930s bakdekkert design. She is powered by a single 100 hp Caterpillar diesel engine.

Between 1992 and 2008, the Bromo underwent a comprehensive restoration that included new hull plating, full sandblasting, and a two-component paint system with 640-micron base thickness. The engine compartment was fitted with tear plates and insulation. Electrical systems were completely renewed to support modern navigation equipment including radar, GPS, and plotter, alongside a 10 kVA Lombardini generator, boiler, and galley appliances. The interior features mahogany and ebony joinery with dovetail construction, lacquered finishes, and flooring of 200-year-old oak laid in parquet.

Accommodations include a captain's cabin aft with a generously proportioned berth and extensive storage, and a convertible settee in the bow. The yacht has one cabin, four heads including a separate toilet room with a Baby Blake system and an independent shower compartment. A holding tank is installed.

The deck is finished in teak, with custom-built companionway and foredeck hatch following period-appropriate design. The restoration work and its extensive documentation remain on file. The yacht was featured in De Waterkampioen magazine.
