1939 Stephens Brothers Bridgedeck Cruiser

Sea Breeze is a 42-foot Stephens Brothers bridgedeck cruiser built in 1939, representing a pinnacle of American yacht design from that era. She is powered by twin Chevrolet 350 CID gasoline engines producing 560 horsepower combined—a notably rare configuration for her period, when single-engine boats dominated. The wooden hull is 11 feet in the beam and features a classic bridgedeck layout with two cabins and two heads.

The yacht has undergone comprehensive restoration and maintenance over recent years. Hull and deck work included new shafts, struts, and propellers; both exhaust manifolds were replaced. The topsides were repainted in 2018, and a custom foredeck butterfly hatch was built entirely of teak—a detailed piece requiring roughly 300 hours of craftsmanship. The engines were replaced in 2000 and have accumulated just over 600 hours. A modern generator has logged barely 100 hours.

Systems throughout have been updated. The boat was completely rewired with both 110-volt and 12-volt systems, fitted with a new charging system and gel batteries installed in 2021. Water tanks were replaced, and electronics have been modernized with a new chartplotter. The interior includes renewed soft goods—carpets, cushions, curtains, and canvas. Brightwork was refinished in 2021 and the bottom was painted in February 2023. A Trinka 12-foot sailing dinghy is carried on the bridgedeck with custom davits.
