Built in 1941 by Armstrong Bros. Shipyard in Victoria, British Columbia, this 85-foot wooden trawler represents a significant piece of West Coast maritime history. Originally launched as a Royal Canadian Navy Fishermen's Reserve vessel during World War II, the boat was later converted and operated as a coastal charter and fishing platform. The hull is constructed of red cedar planking over a wood frame with a round-bilge design, measuring 20 feet in beam with a 7-foot-6-inch draft and offering 6-foot-5-inch headroom throughout.
The boat is powered by a Vivian 6-cylinder naturally aspirated diesel engine rated at 300 horsepower, paired with a straight gear drive and hydraulic clutch. She features freshwater keel cooling, a 6-inch steel shaft, and a 3-blade bronze propeller. Power generation comes from dual Kubota and Northern Lights diesel generators producing 8 kW and 12 kW respectively. Fuel capacity is approximately 2,000 gallons with roughly 1,436 gallons of fresh water storage. The boat includes substantial mechanical systems: hydraulic fire and bilge pumping, auto-electric bilge pumps throughout, an air start system, a 2-stage air compressor, multiple inverters, and a hydraulic bow thruster.
Accommodations comprise 11 cabins with 18 berths, 5 heads, and 3 showers. The layout includes a full galley, main salon, and upper owner/captain quarters with diesel heating and hot-water circulation throughout. Interior furnishings and equipment are extensive, including refrigeration, freezer, commercial vacuum sealer, washing machine, dryer, and various comfort items. Navigation and communication systems feature AIS, three VHF radios, a Nobeltec chart plotter, Furuno depth sounder, magnetic compass, and EPIRB.
The boat is outfitted with a water maker system with new purification components and a hydraulic anchor winch with 500-pound Navy anchor and stainless steel cable. Large deck spaces, a wood mast with boom, and fishing equipment areas support charter or work-camp operations. Extensive spare parts, tools, fishing gear, and related equipment are included.
