This 1945 steel-hulled tugboat was originally built by Burger Boat as a U.S. Army small tug. Over her working life she served in commercial towing operations and was briefly converted to fishing before being restored to tugboat duty. The hull measures 45 feet in length with a 12-foot beam, powered by a Detroit Diesel 6V71 engine rated at 185 horsepower, coupled to an MG 509 Twin Disc transmission with a 2.75-to-1 ratio. The engine has 4,347 hours on it and runs on fresh water keel cooling.
A comprehensive overhaul was completed in 2006, which included reconstruction of the fantail, new rudder configuration, remodeled wheelhouse, and installation of modern systems. The boat is equipped with a bow thruster, hydraulic steering, and an anchor winch. A Northern Lights 20kW generator was recently rebuilt in 2023. Fuel capacity is 600 gallons; fresh water storage totals 110 gallons across two tanks. The holding tank is 35 gallons.
The accommodations include a galley with Salton hotplate and Sanyo refrigerator, a head with shower, and new sleeping quarters. The electrical system features 30-amp shore power with a smart charger and a Pro Mariner inverter. Navigation and communication equipment includes a Raymarine hybrid touchscreen with depth and GPS, Furuno radar, Icom VHF radios, and a 7-inch compass. Ground tackle comprises a 120-pound Navy anchor, hydraulic winch with stainless steel drum, half-inch galvanized chain, and half-inch stainless cable.
