1956 Chris-Craft Capri 21

The 1956 Chris-Craft Capri 21 is a classic wooden runabout built at the Michigan factory. It features a mahogany hull with mahogany framing, carvel-planked construction, and represents one of approximately 800 nineteen-foot Capri models produced between 1955 and 1958. The boat is powered by a Gray Marine Fireball V8 CH-185 engine producing 180 horsepower with direct inboard drive. At 18 feet 7 inches in length and 6 feet 3 inches in beam, it is sized for both cruising and water sports.

The boat underwent a comprehensive professional restoration between 2023 and 2025. The original wood bottom was retained and finished with 17 coats of varnish and 3 coats of bottom paint. The Gray Marine engine was replaced new, and the entire electrical system was rewired with modern safety upgrades including a battery on/off switch and new gauges. A new fuel tank was installed, and the boat received a full complement of modern conveniences: a heated front seat, USB charging port, 12-volt DC system with glass fuse circuit breakers, and bilge pump.

The interior features refinished red upholstery and brass trim throughout. Hardware is solid brass rather than chrome, a distinctive original feature of this particular boat. Exterior appointments include a removable bimini top, full canvas trailering cover, bow and stern flagpoles, curved windshield, and navigation lights. The boat comes with a custom-built trailer fitted with an electric winch. Fuel capacity is 20 gallons, and the boat weighs approximately 2,200 pounds.
