1958 Feadship ATALANTA J

ATALANTA J is a classic motor yacht built in 1958 by De Vries Shipyard to a design by De Voogt, both founding members of Feadship. At 83 feet, she was the largest motor yacht under construction in Holland at the time. The yacht has a wooden hull and is powered by two Iveco diesel engines producing 400 horsepower, with a cruising speed of 9 knots and maximum speed of 12 knots.

The yacht accommodates four cabins and features a teak-on-steel structure. She underwent a comprehensive two-year refit in Holland in 2007 under naval architect Felix Buytendijk. In 2014, a Hamburg refit redesigned the aft deck, adding storage and seating capacity along with a semipermanent Bimini for shelter—modifications suited to modern Mediterranean cruising.

The teak-on-steel structure remains sound and strong. The yacht is currently in a condition requiring attention both above and below decks to restore her to full potential, though the core hull structure is reported to be ready for many years of continued service. ATALANTA J has demonstrated considerable sea-keeping ability during trans-Atlantic passages under her previous ownership.
