1959 Albatross Continental

A 1959 Albatross Continental powered by a Coventry Climax FWE 45 HP engine, this 15-foot 7-inch aluminium speedboat represents a rare example of British mid-century marine design. Built by Albatross Marine to the vision of aeronautical engineer Archie Peace, the boat features a deep V planing hull constructed from flush-riveted Duralumin with cream paintwork. The four-seat configuration and aircraft-grade aluminium construction reflect the precision engineering that defined the marque during the 1950s and '60s.

The boat seats four with cream and blue upholstered seating, new deck covering, and a removable steering wheel. Instrumentation includes a rev counter, oil and temperature gauges, fuel gauge, and ammeter—all period-correct and original to the design. Deck features include a navigation light and pennant mast, pushpit and pulpit, davits, fenders, and mooring warps. Safety equipment comprises an integrated fire extinguisher and electric bilge pump.

The engine runs on petrol via direct drive to a two-blade propeller and has been freshwater cooled. A custom wiring loom with safety kill switch, remote battery isolator, and a single 53-litre fuel tank complete the mechanical package. The boat has logged only 2 running hours on freshwater and received service in 2023. A new battery and alternator were installed in 2023.

The boat is supplied with a new, fully galvanised Albatross-designed road trailer. New tailored tonneau covers are included. Approximate top speed is 40 mph with a range of around 150 miles.
