1963 Albatross Continental Mark II

The 1963 Albatross Continental Mark II is a rare aluminum speedboat from the golden age of British boat building. One of only 164 examples fitted with a Coventry Climax engine, this boat underwent a complete restoration to bare metal in 2021–22 by Albatross Marine. A dynamometer test carried out in March 2022 confirmed the rebuilt Coventry Climax FWB 1500 engine—featuring an overhead cam FWB block and new FWA head from Peacock Engineering, paired with twin SU H4 carburetors—produces 101.4 horsepower at 5,984 rpm. Since its restoration, the boat has seen just over six hours of use, with recent cruising on the Caledonian Canal.

The 15-foot hull measures just under five feet in beam, proportioned for responsive handling. The boat comes equipped with an original road and launching trailer, spare wheel, tonneau cover, ratchet straps, and Albatross Marine flag poles with flags and insignia. Also included is a period Albatross manual, hand-edited and used as reference for later model documentation.

Documentation of the restoration is comprehensive, with pre-restoration photographs, post-restoration invoices, images, and video footage available. The restoration work reflects the precision engineering that defined Albatross Marine's aircraft-influenced design and construction methods.
