This 1963 Cape Cod Shipbuilding Shields is a 30-foot fiberglass sloop designed by Olin Stephens. Hull #3, sail #2, the boat was built early in the Shields class era and represents a well-preserved example of this historic one-design racing platform. The full-keel design and traditional sloop rig make it equally capable as a daysailer and competitive racer.
The boat received a comprehensive refinishing by Concordia Company in 2006, which included a new boom, spinnaker pole, coaming, and spreaders. The topsides are finished in flag blue Awlgrip, with a white bottom and annually maintained brightwork. More recent work includes a new canvas cockpit cover installed in 2020, a fresh bottom with new barrier coat and white ablative paint applied in 2023, and new stays fitted in 2024.
The sail inventory comprises two sets, with the most recent Harding sails acquired in 2021 and seeing light use. The boat has been stored indoors for the past 20 winters, contributing to its well-maintained condition throughout its service life.
