1967 Columbia 38

Sheer is a 1967 Columbia 38, a classic fiberglass sloop built for coastal cruising. The boat underwent extensive overhaul and refit between 2013 and 2015, with standing rigging updated in Port Towsend in 2015. She is powered by a 25 hp Universal engine and sails with a cruising speed of 6 knots.

The boat has been significantly upgraded in recent years. Current systems include a solid bimini with 1200 watts of solar panels that fold away from the dock, a replacement transmission, feathering propeller, radar, wireless weather station, freshwater hot and cold outdoor cockpit shower, backup tiller for the wheel steering, and both indoor and outdoor sound systems.

The hull shows cosmetic wear consistent with its age and use. Minor water seepage occurs through some window seals and deck areas, which could be addressed with updated waterproofing and resealing. The exterior wood and sunbrella material would benefit from refinishing and cleaning. The bottom was last painted in late 2021 and is regularly maintained with zincs inspected.

The boat is Coast Guard documented and ready for cruising.
