The SME Heureka is a 1967 steel sailing ship designed for training and recreational voyages. At 154 feet in length, this three-masted vessel carries approximately 6,900 square feet of sail. A single 550 hp diesel engine provides auxiliary power.
The accommodation plan provides ten cabins and eight heads. The aft section features three luxury cabins with ensuite bathrooms, alongside a main saloon and galley. These spaces serve dual purposes, functioning for both passenger comfort and educational use.
The hull underwent comprehensive assessment at the Emden shipyard, where thickness measurements confirmed the structural integrity of the steel plating. During this inspection, deteriorated frames were replaced and new stringers installed. The deck and companionways have been rebuilt, and structural steelwork was blast-cleaned and repainted.
