A 1967 Laurent Giles Salar 40 centre cockpit motorsailer, built by A.H. Moody and Sons. This offshore-oriented cruiser is known for solid construction, a well-balanced sail plan, and functional design suited to extended passagemaking. Despite its motorsailer designation, the boat sails effectively and was engineered for comfortable long-distance cruising in demanding waters.
The large covered cockpit features expansive windows with windshield wipers, providing excellent visibility and protection from weather. Below deck, two separate cabins offer distinct layouts. The forward cabin includes a V-berth, a head to port, and hanging locker to starboard, with the galley and dinette positioned to port amidships. The stern cabin, accessed from the cockpit, holds a substantial bunk with generous storage for clothing and gear.
The engine—a Detroit diesel—has been rebuilt and shows under 600 operating hours. The boat has benefited from various upgrades throughout its long family ownership and remains actively maintained for cruising.
