A 1973 Bristol 40 sloop with a full-keel design, this classic cruising yacht features long overhangs and a lovely sheerline. The fiberglass hull is painted white with a green boottop and finished bottom, supported by 6,000 pounds of encapsulated lead ballast. A keel-stepped mast carries a 2021 Harken roller furling system and is equipped with dual mast-mounted radars (Raymarine Quantum II Doppler and Furuno 1623), electronic wind instruments, and spreader-mounted LED lights. Eight Lewmar winches distributed across the mast and cockpit support sail handling.
The boat accommodates four to six people across a vee berth forward with lockers and hanging storage, an enclosed head with manual toilet and hand-held shower, a main salon with U-shaped dinette and single berth, and a galley to port featuring a gimballed three-burner LPG stove with oven and broiler. A 12-gallon hot water tank supplies heated water to the sink. The cabin sole is varnished teak, and 110V heaters are fitted in the forward cabin and main salon.
Power comes from a Perkins 4-107 diesel engine producing 40 horsepower, rebuilt around 2018 with approximately 50 hours of operation since. A Borg Warner Velvet Drive transmission drives a stainless steel shaft fitted with a dripless seal. The engine compartment includes an automatic fire suppression system with warning indicators, a lift-style exhaust with vacuum break, and an environmental spill containment bag. Fuel capacity is 30 gallons; water tankage totals 130 gallons across two fiberglass tanks.
Electronics are extensive and redundant: the nav station holds a Raymarine Axion 9 radar-GPS multifunction display, a Raymarine A78 chart plotter with dual-channel sonar, Standard Horizon and Furuno units, two VHF radios, and an EPIRB. Wind, speed, depth, and engine instruments are mounted on the starboard bulkhead. The electrical system includes 12V DC and 110V AC power from three house and engine-start batteries with dual chargers. The boat carries three anchors with a Lewmar Claw storm anchor, a 20-pound LPG tank, and older but serviceable sails including a main with reef points and jibs from 80 to 150 percent. Safety systems include dual tether lines for deck work, triple automatic and manual bilge pumps, and a downwind preventer. The steering is pedestal wheel with binnacle compass. A three-piece winter cover was installed in 2021, and the mast is stored indoors during winter.
