This 1969 Chris-Craft 38 Commander represents the first year of full fiberglass construction for the Commander line. The 38-foot cruiser measures 13 feet across the beam and combines the solid fiberglass hull of that era with the offshore capability Chris-Craft built its reputation on. Twin MerCruiser 7.4L inboards, refreshed with 514 hours, each produce 310 horsepower and drive the boat via direct drive. Fuel capacity runs to 200 gallons across two tanks, with 75 gallons of fresh water and a 25-gallon holding tank.
The boat features dual helm stations—upper and lower—both fully functional and equipped with original Chris-Craft gauges, a stainless steel wheel, chrome engine controls, Garmin multifunction display, Garmin VHF radios, and compass. The interior opens with a bright salon featuring an L-shaped settee that converts to an additional berth. A forward stateroom holds a V-berth with filler, and a private head serves the forward cabin. The galley includes a three-burner stove with oven and rotisserie, a Litton microwave, stainless refrigerator with ice maker, and ample counter and storage space. New carpet runs throughout, and the interior is clean with no odors.
Systems have been updated and refreshed: the head features a 2018 Jabsco electric toilet with updated black water system and shower; a 2017 Kohler 7.3 kW generator supports electrical needs alongside dual 30-amp shore power and a Charles 30-amp charger; batteries were replaced in 2018. Additional equipment includes a halon fire suppression system, Xintex fume detector, hot water system, bilge pumps, and blowers. Exterior details include stainless steel bow rail, Danforth anchor with chocks, teak swim platform, and teak bridge flooring. Stainless and brightwork have been sanded and re-varnished. Full canvas coverage includes main cover, bridge cover, windshield cover, and aft curtain.
The boat has operated exclusively in freshwater and has lived its entire history in that environment. Systems and mechanicals have been addressed throughout, allowing immediate use without further preparation needed.
