Czarina Blue is a 1973 Camper & Nicholsons 38, a John Alden design built to Lloyd's survey standard. She is a ketch with a strong fiberglass hull, encapsulated long keel, keel-hung rudder, and protected propeller—a capable offshore passage-maker that is easily sailed short-handed and has proven sea-keeping qualities. The Perkins 50 hp diesel engine was fully rebuilt in 2022.
Originally Mediterranean-based, the yacht underwent a comprehensive refit in 2017 for blue-water liveaboard cruising. Major work included re-rigging, new chain plates, lifelines, sails, through-hulls, seacocks, anchor and chain, overhauled and reglazed hatches, new gas system and stove, mains RCD, renewable energy systems, and modernized navigation and safety gear. Ongoing upgrades have added a Quantum slab-reefing mainsail, Webasto heating, Hydrovane wind-steering, Schenker watermaker, Furuno radar, and a rebuilt rudder with new bearings. Recent work includes full Webasto service, new raw water pump, repainted topsides, refreshed teak rail varnish, new antifouling, Propspeed, and an overhauled wooden tender. Extensive rewiring was completed alongside the engine rebuild.
The interior layout offers three cabins, one head, a wet room, and a functional galley with ample storage. The protected cockpit features a panoramic glass windscreen and aft-facing chart table, with abundant natural light and ventilation throughout. The boat comes with a Rocna anchor, 10mm chain, solar panels, watermaker, heating system, and an included tender that motors, rows, and sails.
