This 1974 Herreshoff Rozinante is a 28-foot wooden sailing yacht built with mahogany planking over white oak frames, bronze fastenings throughout, and Sitka spruce spars. The deck is Dynel over mahogany with teak toe rails, cockpit sole, and cabin soles. Original bronze hardware was personally made by L. Francis Herreshoff, the legendary yacht designer. The yacht carries substantial cruising equipment including bronze J.M. Reineck & Son blocks, Edson bronze bilge pumps (both manual and electric), Endura braid halyards, a 5-inch Danforth compass, two anchors with 120-foot rodes, and two canvas-covered fenders. A Torqeedo electric outboard with two batteries provides auxiliary power, mounted on a removable bracket.
The accommodation includes a traditional cabin with mahogany sides and coaming. Berths have 6-inch foam cushions with 2021 Sunbrella covers, fitted linens, and throw pillows. A cast iron Skippy stove with copper heat shield and bronze galley pump are aboard, along with a Porta Potty and cedar bucket. The cockpit features full closed-cell foam cushions and multiple canvas covers—a Sunbrella sun awning, boom tent, interim boom tent with frame, and a 2017 full winter canvas cover and frame.
Sails include a Nat Wilson main and mizzen from 2021 and 2023, a jib, mizzen staysail, and cruising spinnaker. Additional safety and navigational equipment includes radar reflector, flare kit, six life jackets, two fire extinguishers, first aid kit, and various bronze bells and sound devices. The decks were refurbished in 2025 with new nonskid. The yacht has been professionally maintained under a custom canvas winter cover and holds current New York State registration along with PHRF and CRF rating certificates.
