The 2003 Hunter 306 is a 28.5-foot fiberglass sloop designed for accessible coastal cruising and weekend sailing. Built on a fin keel with skeg-mounted rudder, the boat draws 4.5 feet and displaces 7,150 pounds with 2,550 pounds of ballast. A single 18-horsepower Yanmar diesel engine powers the boat, supported by 20 gallons of fuel capacity and 30 gallons of fresh water storage.
Deck and cockpit are organized for straightforward handling. The mast features roller reefing on the mainsail and a furling Genoa, with all running rigging led aft to the cockpit for single-handed operation. Navigation electronics include Raymarine autopilot, wind and speed instruments, Raymarine depth and speed display, Garmin GPS, VHF radio, and compass. A full cockpit enclosure provides weather protection, complemented by a bimini top, portable table, swim platform with telescoping ladder, and shower. The cockpit sole and wide sidedecks allow easy movement.
Below decks, the open salon features teak trim, laminate cabin sole, and generous headroom. The layout includes a forward V-berth, roomy aft cabin, convertible dinette with double berth capability, and dedicated nav station. The galley is fitted with Corian countertops, Force 10 two-burner propane stove, deep stainless-steel sink, microwave, and refrigerator. A marine head with enclosed shower, vanity, and sink serves the interior.
Recent upgrades include a new refrigerator, updated cockpit cushions, new battery bank with Victron controller and charger, and large cockpit enclosure. Electrical systems feature three new batteries and a Bluetooth AM/FM/MP3 stereo. The 392-square-foot sail plan and compact footprint balance performance with manageable slip costs.
