1974 Nelson 45

This Nelson 45 was originally built for Royal Navy officer training and benefits from a design by Peter Thorneycroft known for strength, stability, and predictable handling across varied sea conditions. Two significant refits have brought the boat to modern standards while preserving the hull's proven offshore capability. The 45-foot fiberglass hull measures 13.25 feet in beam and is powered by two Perkins Sabre M130C diesel engines with PRM gearboxes and counter-rotating propellers.

The interior comprises two cabins and two heads, with accommodation upgraded for comfort and functionality. Systems have been modernised throughout: electric heads, shower with holding tank, refurbished hot water and heating, and a contemporary electrical setup featuring lithium batteries and a 3kW inverter. The gas-free configuration prioritises safety. A bow thruster and electric windlass are fitted, along with updated navigation equipment.

The boat has been engineered for self-sufficiency and extended operation away from shore facilities, reducing dependence on marinas for power and services. The most recent professional refurbishment took 53 weeks and was completed with focus on reliability and ease of use. The boat presents in excellent condition and has seen light use since that work was finished.
