This 1974 Pikmeerkruiser LaPalma is a classic Dutch steel cruiser from an era when De Groot Yacht Works (later known as Pikmeerkruiser) was establishing its reputation for solid, seaworthy designs. At 40 feet with an 11-foot beam, the boat offers the full-displacement comfort characteristic of the company's work. Power comes from a single 130-horsepower Isuzu diesel, with a cruising speed around 8 knots and a maximum speed of 10 knots.

The hull is the boat's strongest asset. An ultrasonic thickness survey four years ago confirmed the steel construction remains sound with no corrosion issues. The hull is well-insulated, a significant advantage in steel construction. The engine was recently rebuilt and runs with instant starts and no smoke; the transmission has fewer than 100 hours since rebuild. Shaft, propeller, and cutlass bearing were all replaced during that same work. The running gear is therefore in capable condition.

The interior was professionally built out from a bare hull and reflects mid-1970s construction standards and aesthetics. Workmanship is solid, and the layout includes an aft cabin design. The boat shows age cosmetically throughout the interior, with finishes and furnishings typical of its era. While mechanically sound and reliable, the living spaces would benefit from updating and refreshing to modern standards.
