This 1974 Tollycraft 40 Tri-Cabin is a fiberglass motoryacht with twin Chrysler 440 gasoline engines rated at 330 horsepower each. The engines were rebuilt in 1996 and had logged 385 hours at the time of documentation. The boat features hydraulic steering, hydraulic trim tabs, and dual Borg Warner 1:91-1 drives with engine synchronizers. Fresh water 21-inch three-blade props were installed in 1996, with two spare four-blade props added in 2010.
The three-cabin layout sleeps eight across two heads, including a spacious aft stateroom with twin berths and direct access to the cockpit. The salon features a teak interior with an L-shaped settee and expandable coffee table that converts to a 4-by-4 dining surface. Sliding deck doors are positioned port and starboard. The forward cabin has double berths, and the aft head includes a separate shower stall. Upper and lower helm stations are fully equipped with dual marine radios, depth and fish finders, engine temperature gauges, and a Raymarine Axiom Pro system with Great Lakes chart maps. Navigation electronics include a Benmar autopilot serviced in 2016, Raytheon R20 24-mile radar from 2012, and dual compasses.
Power systems include three 8D batteries monitored by voltage meters and charged via a three-bank 110-volt charging system and the main engines while underway. A Honda 3000-watt generator with electric start was installed in 2014. The boat has four heavy-duty 12-volt bilge pumps, one in each bilge space, plus power fresh water and shower pumps. Cruisair marine air conditioning and heating is supplied, with cabin heat hooked to the starboard engine and domestic hot water heated by the port engine while underway.
In 1994, the hull was sandblasted and treated with seven coats of Interprotect 2000 epoxy, then protected with four coats of BC17 bottom paint. New gelcoat was applied in 1996. The boat has been stored indoors for the last ten years. The 40-foot design features wide side decks, a 100-square-foot aft deck, transom door, swim platform, and substantial storage. A 2001 AB 290VS 10-foot-6-inch hard-bottom inflatable tender in Navigo white with cover and 2002 Karavan trailer is included, along with an electric Torqeedo 3-horsepower motor with batteries and solar charger, plus a 4-horsepower gas motor.
