This 1975 Jarvis Newman 32 DEC is a traditional down east design built with hand-laid fiberglass construction, bonded bulkheads, and glassed stringers. The deck is fiberglass over marine plywood. A single Cummins diesel engine of 250 horsepower powers the boat. The original owner maintained the yacht carefully, and the second owner has continued that practice with multiple returns to the builder for upgrades and improvements, including topside painting, engine remanufacturing in 2019, interior refurbishment, new marine toilet, and new electronics.
Below deck, the cabin features a v-berth forward with a removable insert that converts it to a spacious double or splits it into two settees with storage beneath. An overhead hatch and three opening bronze port lights provide light and ventilation, with reading lights at each settee. Teak joinery with pine ceiling strips finishes the interior. Headroom is approximately 6 feet. To starboard aft is a large hanging locker and storage bin next to an enclosed head with a marine toilet. To port is the galley, fitted with a stainless steel sink, two-burner propane cooktop, and icebox.
The helm station sits to starboard under an extended hardtop with a captain's chair, bronze-spoked wheel, and full instrumentation. Port and starboard windshields both have wipers; the starboard windshield opens for ventilation. A large deck hatch provides engine access. Two additional below-deck storage compartments with hatches offer extra space. The cockpit features a teak slide-away aft bench seat with cushion and is self-bailing.
