1975 Mirage 27

Escapade is a 1975 Mirage 27 masthead sloop designed by Peter Schmidt, known for responsive handling and strong sailing characteristics across varying conditions. The fiberglass hull measures 27 feet in length with a 9.25-foot beam and sits on a lead fin keel with spade rudder. A 12 HP Yanmar diesel inboard powers the boat.

The interior accommodates up to five adults and a child across two cabins. Forward is a double forepeak with opening hatch and shelf, followed by a head with hanging locker and vanity with linen storage. The main salon features a full-sized settee that converts to a double, a shorter berth suitable for a child, and a port quarter berth. A drop-down table with bi-fold leaf can be positioned for dining or games, with a partial-lower option for forward cabin access. The L-shaped galley on the starboard side includes a newer stove with cutting board, top-loading ice box, and sink. Interior trim is teak, with fiberglass cabin sole and molded fiberglass overhead. New opening ports and two deck hatches provide cross ventilation alongside the companionway hatch.

The self-bailing cockpit spans 7 feet with a large sail locker hatch to starboard. Deck features include new lifelines, stainless steel transom swim ladder, teak hand rails, and slotted aluminum toe rail. The mainsail is new with MacPack and lazy jacks; the genoa is newer with green sacrificial cloth and Furlex roller furling. Rigging includes new halyards and sheets, boom vang with new line, and a whisker pole with mast track. Twin primary winches with 2-speed self-tailing and separate mast halyard winches support sail handling.

Recent updates include new cabin and cockpit cushions, new dodger, and new halyards and sheets. The boat carries navigation equipment including compass, depth sounder, hand-held VHF, wind indicator, and barometer. A dual 12-volt battery system, 30-amp shore power, and 110-volt charger support electrical needs. Deck gear includes anchor with chain and rode, dock lines with snubbers, fenders, fire extinguishers, PFDs, horse shoe buoy, and fog bell. Service records and equipment manuals are on file.
