1975 Mirage Yachts 27

Escapade is a 1975 Mirage 27 masthead sloop designed by Peter Schmidt, known for her responsive handling and sailing performance across varying conditions. The fiberglass hull measures 27.92 feet with a 9.25-foot beam and sits on a lead fin keel with spade rudder. Power comes from a 12 hp Yanmar diesel inboard with a 12-gallon fuel tank.

The interior accommodates up to five adults and a child across two cabins. Forward is a double forepeak with opening hatch and shelf. The head features a hanging locker and vanity with sink and linen storage; both the forepeak and head close off for privacy. The main cabin holds a full-sized settee that converts to a double berth, a short child's berth opposite, and a port quarter berth. An unstowed table drops to the centerline for dining and games and can be partially stowed for forward passage. The galley is L-shaped on the starboard side with an Origo stove, cutting board, top-loading ice box, and sink. Teak trim throughout; fiberglass cabin sole and molded overhead. New opening ports replace the original windows, and two deck hatches plus the companionway provide cross ventilation. Interior and cockpit cushions are newly replaced.

The self-bailing cockpit is 7 feet long with a large hatch to the sail locker below. The main sail has new MacPack and lazy jacks; the genoa is newer with sacrificial cloth and furls via a Furlex roller unit. New halyards and sheets, boom vang with new line, and two primary winches with self-tailing and dual speeds support the sails. Tiller steering. Navigation equipment includes a bulkhead compass, Signet depth sounder, hand-held VHF, barometer, and wind indicator. The dual 12-volt battery system supports cabin and mast lighting, 30-amp shore power, and a 110-volt charger. Additional equipment includes teak rails, stainless transom swim ladder, new lifelines, new dodger, AM/FM/CD stereo, Danforth anchor with chain and rode, fenders, dock lines, fire extinguishers, life jackets, and a custom winter cover.
